CONS SPACE 2 / BERLIN

For a two week period in October, Converse took over three floors of an abandoned textile factory to create the second CONS Space with skaters, sculptors and live-in artists.

The ground floor Skate Lab featured sculptures designed by Roberto Cuellar, who took textural design influence from the former use of the space. During the many skate sessions that all the Berlin locals got to enjoy Converse Ambassadors Mike Anderson, Jason Jessee, Kenny Anderson, Javier Mendizabal, Remy Taviera and Danny Sommerfeld shot with local skate filmer Mark Nickels who put together this edit highlighting some of the fun that went down during those two weeks.

Durante un periodo de dos semanas en Octubre, Converse tomo tres plantas de una factoría abandonada para crear un segundo CONS space, con skaters, escultores y artistas residiendo.

La planta baja para el laboratorio de Skate, con esculturas de Roberto Cuella, la cual tuvo influencia de lo que antes era el espacio y su uso. Durante una de las muchas sesiones de skate, los locales ( Berlín ) , tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de los embajadores internacionales, Mike Anderson, Jason Jessee, Kenny Anderson, Javier Mendizabal, Remy Taviera y Danny Sommerfeld  grabado por el filmer local Mark Nickles que ha hecho esta edición .

When I moved to Santa Cruz in the mid-’60s it was a skateboarder’s utopia. It was a destination that any discerning skater had to make a trip to. No cops. No hassles. Just skating and rad vibes, the way it was supposed to be. Not to mention the most righteous terrain on the planet.

 

It seemed like it would last forever, but like any society built on a single premise, Santa Cruz started to decay, and what was once a skateboarder’s paradise became a filthy beach ghetto. It’s still all about the skating and not much else. That’s probably why the city fell apart in the first place…—Terkin Von Knobske

Cuando me mudé a Santa Cruz a mediados de los 60, era la utopia de los skaters, Era un destino que cualquier skater tenia que visitar. Sin Polis , sin agobios. Solo patinar y vibraciones radicales, como tenia que ser. Sin mencionar el terreno mas apropiado del planeta.

Parecia que iba a durar para siempre, pero como cualquier otra sociedad basada en una sola premisa, Santa Cruz , comenzó a decaer, y lo que fué una vez un paraiso del skater, se convirtio en un ghetto sucio de playa. Todo lo rodea el skate y no mucho mas. Y eso es por lo cual la ciudad se vino abajo en primer lugar _ Terkin Von Knobse.
